Which type of wireless microphone do I need?
A handheld works for almost everything; a headset is better for people who move while speaking or need their hands free; a lavalier suits quiet settings and video.
The question we hear most is how many mics are needed. For a wedding, one headset and two handhelds; for a presentation, one headset per main speaker and one handheld for Q&A. We always have an extra one ready.

UHF or 2.4 GHz microphone: which should you choose?
Quick answer: UHF is more stable at distance and in spaces with lots of Wi-Fi; 2.4 GHz is cheaper but competes with phones and routers.
In a room with 300 people there are 300 phones searching for Wi-Fi. That is where a 2.4 GHz mic starts dropping out. That is why we work with UHF systems on frequencies allocated for event use.

Why can some older microphones no longer be used in Spain?
Because the 800 MHz and 700 MHz bands were reassigned to mobile networks (4G and 5G), and microphones operating there suffer interference and are no longer permitted.
We see this often in assembly halls and parishes: equipment bought years ago that suddenly starts cutting out. After the digital dividends, wireless microphones must operate below 694 MHz. All Alquiaudio systems comply, so there is no risk of dropouts caused by the mobile network.

Frequently asked questions
Can I hire just microphones without speakers?
Yes, if you already have a compatible sound system, we hire just the mics and receivers. We help you check your desk or speaker has the right input. You can collect them from the warehouse.
How many wireless mics can work at once?
We can run several systems at the same time without interference by assigning each its own frequency. For conferences with many speakers, the 32-channel desk handles them all. Tell us how many people will speak.
What if the batteries run out mid-speech?
It shouldn’t happen: we fit fresh batteries for every event and the technician monitors battery levels. If it does, a spare mic is switched on and ready to swap in seconds. It is part of the Alquiaudio Plan B.
Do the mics work outdoors?
Yes, UHF systems work well outdoors and we bring wind protection. The stable range easily covers a garden or a square. We place the receiver with a clear line of sight to the stage.
Do you hire microphones for karaoke?
Yes, for karaoke we use rugged wireless handhelds designed to be passed around. See DJ and karaoke. We bring hygienic covers.
