Sindy’s story, the Alquiaudio Rider method and why we never sub-hire equipment from third parties.
Meet Alquiaudio
How many watts you need, a wedding sound checklist and when it makes sense to hire or buy a system.
Read the sound blogBecause the equipment you see on this site is the equipment that turns up at your event, and the person who sets it up stays until the end. These are the six things returning clients value most.
Every quote includes the Alquiaudio Rider: placement plan, power requirements, set-up times and number of mics. You can forward it as is to the venue or the council.
We know how many hours each speaker has done and when it was last checked. If we show you a photo, that is the speaker arriving at your event. See the sound equipment inventory.
We don’t drop off and leave: whoever sets up stays until the last song, adjusts the volume as the mood changes and packs down.
We always carry a compact back-up system, spare mics and rain covers. Since a storm in the Penedès in 2019, we never leave without them.
If you call in the morning and we have gear available, we can set up that afternoon in the province of Barcelona. We reply within an hour, holidays included.
Formal quote, VAT invoice and whatever paperwork procurement or the council needs. We work in English, Spanish and Catalan.
Sindyfounder and technical lead · Alquiaudio
Alquiaudio was founded by Sindy in 2015, after six years running sound for town-festival bands all over Catalonia.
Sindy started in 2009 loading speakers for a band from the Vallès and ended up running the monitor desk at more than forty town festivals a season. That is where she learnt what no course teaches: how to read a square before placing a speaker, how much a single power socket can take and how to stay calm when a mic fails in the middle of a speech.
In 2015 she bought her first system and began hiring it out to individuals and associations who needed professional sound without paying for a full production. Today Alquiaudio works with a 6,000 W system, serves clients in English, Spanish and Catalan and sets up in all four Catalan provinces. Read the full story on who we are at Alquiaudio.
Eight out of ten sound problems we see at events have nothing to do with power, they are about placement. That is why we ask for photos of the venue before we send a quote.
— Sindy, founder and technical lead
Alquiaudio does not work with fixed price lists: every event gets a tailored quote, free and with no obligation, within an hour. The price depends on four things you can know before you call.
The question we hear most is why we don’t publish prices. The short answer: two weddings with the same number of guests can need very different set-ups. A ceremony in a windy garden needs more coverage than a dinner in a low-ceilinged room, and an outdoor speech needs a mic that won’t feed back with speakers three metres away.
In our experience, what pushes up the cost of an event is rarely the power but last-minute changes: a second space for drinks, a band arriving with more musicians than planned or a set-up that has to be redone because nobody mentioned the garden closes at six. That is why our quote includes the technical Rider with timings and requirements: if something doesn’t add up, you see it before signing.
For an exact quote, send us the date, town, number of guests, indoor or outdoor, and which moments need a mic. Photos of the space help. You can use the Alquiaudio quote form or WhatsApp.
As a guide, Alquiaudio allows 6 to 12 watts per guest indoors and a little over double outdoors, always adding subwoofers from 100 people if there will be dancing. The table sums up the set-ups we install most often.
Watts are a useful reference, but misleading on their own. A badly placed 1,000 W speaker sounds worse than a well-aimed 500 W one. Outdoors there are no walls or ceiling to reflect the sound, so you need more pressure to reach the back; indoors it is the other way round and the problem is usually reverberation.
If you want to understand the calculation in more detail, we explain it step by step in the guide how many watts you need for an event, with real examples from set-ups in Catalonia. For a sense of loudness, the technical reference is the decibel: every extra 3 dB means double the power, yet the ear perceives it as only a small increase. If any technical term is unfamiliar, it is explained in our event sound glossary.
| Audience | Indicative set-up | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 80 people | 2 Electro-Voice 12″ speakers + 1 wireless mic | Ceremonies, speeches, dinners |
| 80–200 people | 2 × 12″ speakers + 1 × 18″ subwoofer + desk | Weddings, birthdays with dancing |
| 200–350 people | 4 × 12″ speakers + 2 × 18″ subwoofers | Country-house parties, company dinners |
| 350–500 people (outdoor) | Full 6,000 W system with 2×15″ columns | Town festivals, concerts in the square |
Quick answer: without a technician works for background music in a single space; with microphones, dancing or more than 100 people, a technician is worth it. At Alquiaudio the technician is included in every service with set-up, but you can also collect a simple system from our warehouse.
After more than a thousand events, our advice is clear: if anyone will speak into a mic, book a technician. Feedback, mics with flat batteries and volume swings between dinner and dancing account for 90% of the issues we find when equipment is left unattended.
More on what the technician actually does during an event on our page about event sound technicians in Catalonia.
| Criterion | With an Alquiaudio technician | Without a technician (warehouse collection) |
|---|---|---|
| Set-up and tuning | We do it, with a sound check | You do it following our instructions |
| Mics and speeches | Volume and EQ adjusted in real time | Risk of feedback if someone walks near the speakers |
| Problems on the day | Back-up equipment on site | Support call, and a visit if needed |
| Best for | Weddings, companies, town festivals, bands | Small parties with music from a phone |
| Responsibility for the gear | Ours | Yours during the hire |
There are five steps and the first takes less than an hour: you message us, we send a fixed quote with the technical Rider and, if it works for you, we book the date.
A full 6,000 W set-up takes us about 90 minutes and take-down around an hour. For weddings we usually arrive three hours before the ceremony so we don’t clash with florists or catering. If the venue has strict loading times, we note them in the Rider so the venue is aware.
The essentials are enough power, access for a van and knowing what time the volume has to come down. Once that is sorted, we bring the rest.
The full system runs on two 230 V sockets on separate circuits. If the sound shares a line with the caterer’s coffee machine, sooner or later the breaker will trip. For outdoor sites without mains power, we can work with a generator if you let us know in advance.
We need to park close by while loading and unloading. If there are stairs, gravel ramps or a small lift, tell us: it changes the set-up time and sometimes the equipment we bring.
Many Catalan town councils limit volume after a certain time or require a sound limiter at outdoor events. If the venue or council has rules, we follow them and adjust placement so the sound stays on the dance floor and not in the neighbour’s house.
Because it lets us control the condition of every speaker, cable and mic, and guarantee that what we quote is exactly what arrives.
Sub-hiring equipment is common in the industry and lets companies take on more events, but it means working with gear you don’t know. We would rather turn down a date than set up with speakers we haven’t checked. We have six Electro-Voice 12-inch speakers, two 18-inch subwoofers, 2×15 columns and a 32-channel Behringer desk, plus wireless mics and LED lights.
That inventory covers what 95% of the events we are asked for in Catalonia need. If your event is bigger, we will tell you in the first message, plainly.
I would rather say no to a date than set up with equipment I haven’t checked myself.
— Sindy, founder and technical lead
It depends on audience size, hours, venue and extras, which is why Alquiaudio always gives a fixed, no-obligation quote. We send it within an hour with delivery, set-up and the technician already included. There are no hidden costs: if anything changes, it is updated in writing before the event.
Yes, Alquiaudio works throughout Catalonia: the provinces of Barcelona, Girona, Tarragona and Lleida. Travel is included and itemised in the quote. In the province of Barcelona we can even set up on the same day if equipment is available.
If the DJ or venue has professional equipment and a technician, that may be enough; if not, a dedicated service is worth it. The usual problem is that venue systems are designed for background music and can’t handle outdoor mics or dancing with 200 people. We can help you check if you send us the model of their system.
Message us on WhatsApp or call +34 722 538 833 with the date, town and number of guests. We send the quote and technical Rider, and once you accept we reserve the date in writing. For dates from May to September it is best to book well ahead.
For Saturdays from May to October we recommend booking six to twelve months ahead. For weekday or off-season events, two or three weeks is usually enough. Even so, if something comes up, call us: we set up at short notice when equipment is free.
Yes: Alquiaudio covers cables with cable protectors, secures stands and places speakers away from walkways. We check power sockets before connecting and never overload a single circuit. The technician keeps an eye on the set-up throughout the event.
We replace it on the spot with the back-up gear we always carry in the van. The technician is there for the whole event, so issues are solved in minutes, not hours. That is why every set-up comes with spare mics, cables and a compact reserve system.
Yes, if you call in the morning and equipment is available, we set up that same afternoon in the province of Barcelona. We are open 365 days a year, holidays included, and reply within an hour. For urgent requests, call +34 722 538 833 directly.
Yes, we issue VAT invoices and formal quotes for companies, associations and public bodies. If your council is processing a minor contract, we send the documents its file requires. More on our page about town council and festival sound.
We bring covers to protect the equipment and, if needed, move the sound to a covered area. In heavy rain we pause the sound for safety until it is possible to continue. The technical Rider always includes a covered alternative so the venue can plan for it.
Yes, Alquiaudio works in English, Spanish and Catalan, both on the phone and at the event. This is common at international weddings in Sitges, on the Costa Brava or in the Penedès. The technician can brief your master of ceremonies in whichever language you prefer.
We adjust placement and volume so the sound stays focused on the dance floor and respects local curfews. Outdoors we point speakers away from homes and control the bass, which travels furthest. If there is a sound limiter, we work within it and factor it in from the quote.
Send us the date, town and number of guests. We reply within an hour with a fixed quote and the technical Rider for your event, with no obligation.
Alquiaudio works in all four Catalan provinces: Barcelona, Girona, Tarragona and Lleida. Travel is included in the quote, itemised and with no surprises. See every town on Alquiaudio service areas.
