## Which parts of a wedding need sound?

**A typical wedding needs sound at four moments: ceremony, drinks reception, dinner and dancing, often in different spaces at the same venue.**

In short:

- **Ceremony:** mic for the officiant, vows and readings; entrance music.
- **Drinks:** background music spread out at low volume.
- **Dinner:** speeches, videos and the couple’s entrance.
- **Dancing:** subwoofers and lighting for the dance floor.

The key is that moving between spaces goes unnoticed. While guests are at drinks, our technician is already moving and testing the dinner set-up. That is why at weddings we always work with a technician all day and a running order agreed with you or your wedding planner.

The thing we are most often asked to change at the last minute is the order of speeches. No problem: with spare handheld mics and the running order on the desk, the technician adapts without stopping the music.

## DJ with their own system or separate wedding sound?

**Quick answer: if the DJ brings professional gear and also covers the ceremony, that may be enough; with several spaces or outdoor speeches, separate sound is worth it.**

## How do you do sound for an outdoor ceremony?

**With two discreet speakers at the sides, a headset mic for the officiant and a handheld for readings, all tuned so the back row hears clearly with no feedback.**

Outdoors, wind and distance are the enemies. We use mics with wind protection and place the speakers slightly in front of whoever is speaking so the mic doesn’t pick up the speaker itself. With more than 120 guests we add a second pair halfway down the aisle, with a slight delay so the voice arrives in sync.

Every outdoor ceremony comes with an agreed Plan B: covers, a designated covered area and a compact back-up system. We learnt this in 2019 at a wedding at a masia in the Penedès, when a storm forced the ceremony into the barn in 35 minutes. Since then Plan B travels in every van.

### How much does wedding sound cost in Barcelona?

It depends on the number of spaces, the moments to cover and the number of guests; Alquiaudio gives a fixed, no-obligation quote. It includes a technician all day, delivery, set-up and a rain Plan B. Send us the date and venue to receive it within an hour.

### How far ahead should wedding sound be booked?

For Saturdays from May to October, we recommend booking six to twelve months ahead. Weekday and winter weddings usually have more availability. The booking is confirmed in writing with the technical Rider.

### Can you coordinate with the venue and wedding planner?

Yes, we send the technical Rider to the venue and wedding planner and agree loading and set-up times. It is standard at almost all our weddings. That way nobody has to act as go-between on the day.

### How many microphones do I need for a wedding?

Usually a headset mic for the officiant and two handhelds for readings and speeches. For dinner with several speeches in a row we add a third spare mic. All are wireless and get fresh batteries for every wedding.

### Do you do sound for beach weddings?

Yes, we set up beach weddings in the Maresme, the Garraf and on the Costa Brava, with protection against sand and humidity. We need to know if there is power nearby or whether a generator will be required. Some towns require a permit for sound on the beach: we flag it when we quote.
